Back in the (School) Saddle Again

I intended to post on Friday... but I forgot.  So, I changed my plan to Saturday.... but I couldn't find my camera.  Thank the Lord, it rained (down poured, really) this morning, so I decided to use my (yet unused) umbrella that came with my purse... underneath the umbrella, was my camera :)

Monday marked the beginning of 1st Grade for Little Man!!!  His favorite subject (which I ordered the book for, for fun, it's not actually part of his curriculum) is "ananomy" (aka anatomy).

The boy has spent many, many, hours looking through his book (even taking it in the van) at the pictures and writing down page numbers for J or I too look at later ; p

Our text has us start with at the beginning of the study of the human body.  We read about the Egyptians, the Israelites (and God's Law giving them "body healthy" tips), the Greeks, the Romans, and the early Europeans.  We also go to start our first experiment... mummifying an apple!  We have to wait a week so see how our control and mummy apples change!

On Thursday, Daddy had to go to Mobile, AL for his final FAA exam (he passed with a 97%, WOO HOO)... while we waited, the kids ate suckers, and Little Man's tongue presented a scientific observation!  A few days earlier he had been looking at a cross section of the tongue and the taste buds... his purple candy was just the right shade to make his own little papillae and taste buds stand out... I took a picture for him (I know you can't see it, but I zoomed in for him) :)

During grammer, we have been discussing groups and subgroups... this is the clothing group, with a piece of each subgroup- warm weather clothing, cool weather clothing, and costumes- on at the same time!

Back to Thursday... while Daddy tested, we hung out in the shade and watched the airplanes and helicopters.  The little guys are so funny... they can't really say airplane or helicopter (though they try), but they'll hold their hand out flat and fly it for a plane, or twirl their fingers and make a whoop whoop kind of sound for helicopter (along with "Mama, Mama, ungh, ungh", along with a wild finger point)!

After the test, we headed home, but with a stop at the gigancic (as Little Man says) Bass Pro Shop (Grandpa C would be proud)!

"Watey, Watey"

"Fiss"

Daddy's future boat :)

In Other News:  In case you hadn't heard, Little Man and biking without training wheels clicked this week (he posed for me on the way to putting his bike in the garage before supper)... he was very disgruntled at the rain this morning :)
