So, from the title, you can guess what the topic of today's post is- Smaug's first birthday!!!
The night before the big day, the "kids" hung up the Happy Birthday sign and streamers, Daddy picked up a balloon, and TW guided everyone in making a crown for the Little Guy!
After lunch (TW was too excited to wait for dinner and cake), Smaug opened he gifts (yes, he's still in his jammies, but it is his birthday... incidentally, TW was upset that he didn't get to take the day off of school for Smaug's birthday)! Grammy, he really liked your card, so did everyone else, and we had to keep returning the card to Smaug... it didn't last long, Smaug chewed it up and pulled the cover off :)
I made a quiet book for the little guy :)
Here is the King of the Hill... Nana, the kids made sure Smaug's pillow went directly to his bed, and they even included it when we packed for our "adventure" ;)
Here is some of the quiet book up close. I got the patterns from Imagine Our Life... I'm totally jealous of her creativity and grateful for the free ideas!!!
We found this munchkin streaking across the kitchen floor!
Unfortunately, TW did end up getting the afternoon off... he had a fever for the second time of the week (it was gone by morning)... he didn't want to partake in Smaug's supper, but joined us for cake!
Smaug's mac n' cheese, BBQ meatball and roll dinner... he ate it all up!
And then posed long enough with his crown for me to take a picture!
Our Zebra Cake (TW helped me make it, he was super impressed and thinks I'm "the cats meow" (well, he did at the time, he's probably indifferent about my coolness status now))!!!
And, surprise, surprise (not really), Smaug loved his desert :)
In Other News: *sigh* my baby is growing up *sigh*
Funny how we repeat the cliches we used to laugh at when we were kids ~ "oh my, how fast they grow up" ~ "time sure flies by quickly" ~ because they are so true! And you will (sigh) have MANY more (sigh) joys and (sigh) bittersweet moments (sigh) as your little ones grow (sigh). But they will ALWAYS LOVE their Mommy & Daddy! (happy sigh).
